Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis is facing criticism over new guidelines saying Florida’s students should be taught some enslaved people benefited from slavery. The governor has tried to distance himself from the controversy. Vice President Kamala Harris traveled to Florida and condemned the new history curriculum last week.
