Tuca & Bertie is being grounded once more.

The animated series about two anthropomorphic female birds who navigate life, relationships and friendship, was canceled by Lisa Hanawalt on Wednesday.

” Tuca and Bertie have been sadly canceled,” she posted on Twitter. “To all our fans, we love you and can’t express enough gratitude for your support over these years. Keep making fan art and dressing up as your favorite characters for Halloween. It brings me joy. “

This marks the second time Tuca & Bertie has had its wings clipped. The show originated on Netflix in 2019 and was canceled after a single season. Adult Swim subsequently picked it up and aired two more seasons, the latter of which premiered in July.

A representative from Adult Swim did not immediately respond to a request for comment. “Working with Adult Swim has been very creatively rewarding,” Hanawalt stated in her Wednesday statement. “Our execs are all smart and thoughtful. I’m grateful that we had the space to make these wild and touching episodes about things that matter to us very much. I am so proud of all my talented coworkers, collaborators and colleagues on this show. ” She added, “Please see the end credits and pay attention to all the names in the cast & crew. I am also glad that we were covered by the Animation Guild and Writers Guild of America. I hope that show creators who have the power to unionize their productions will continue to do so. ”

But if there’s any chance to wrap things up for Tuca & Bertie, Hanawalt would like to. She wrote that she still had a beautiful and strange ending in mind for T&B. “Hopefully we’ll have the chance to finish this tale someday. I’m still creating. I have seen so many people connect with this show on such a profound level. I plan to continue telling stories like these, no matter what. “
