Texas Longhorns Commit Dylan Spencer Flips to Texas Tech Red Raiders

The Texas Longhorns have lost an important piece of their 2023 recruiting class, to a conference competitor.

AUSTIN — On Monday evening, the Texas Longhorns were shocked to lose a 2023 C.E. commitment. Dyland Spencer, defensive end at King (Houston).

The Horns are now worse off as Spencer has committed to the Red Raiders and a Big 12 competitor on Monday.

Spencer was at one time the second Longhorns 2023 recruiting class commitment, along with Seguin (Arlington TX) defensive back Jamel John, who recently de-committed and committed to TCU.

Spencer originally chose the Longhorns over Arizona State and Baylor, LSU, Texas A&M and Texas A&M. He also received offers from Houston and SMU.

Spencer has been a major mover throughout his high school career. He spent his freshman season at West Orange Stark (Texas), and then moved to Katy (Texas), for his sophomore season.

He was also a top defensive lineman at CE King.

The Longhorns are now less than 48 hours away from the early signing period. They will be looking for an edge rusher to replace Spencer. This would have been a significant win for Pete Kwiatkowski’s defence.
