Scott Van Pelt, Joe Buck Had an Awkward Moment After ‘Monday Night Football’
It was a strange moment Monday night when it appeared that two of ESPN’s most prominent names were at odds during a live TV segment. Monday Night Football.
Scott Van Pelt was interviewed by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman after the Chargers beat Colts 20-3. You can watch the entire segment. HereVan Pelt can also be heard asking Buck the first question in the evening about his assessment of Los Angeles heading into the postseason. During their nearly seven-minute-long appearance, Buck would only be asked that question.
Van Pelt asked Aikman three more questions to close the segment. Buck didn’t hide his disappointment and had a very awkward back-and-forth.
“That’s it? I get one question? That’s all? Buck asked.
Van Pelt replied, “I decided tonight Joe that I wanted to speak to Troy more.” Buck pointed out that he had “awkwardly stood here” while Aikman answered questions. Aikman attempted to diffuse the situation with comedy, but to no avail.
Van Pelt asked Buck about the weather and Christmas to try to appease him. He then moved on, thankfully.
Van Pelt stated, “This is getting really awkward and I’m going to segue out of it.” “Boys, happy New Year!”
Buck can be heard saying, “It’s your show,” and getting the last word in.
