Pittsburgh Steelers WR Calvin Austin to Undergo Surgery on Foot Injury
PITTSBURGH — The Pittsburgh Steelers made the decision to shut down rookie wide receiver Calvin Austin for the remainder of the season as his 21-day return window from Injured Reserve expired. Fans were quick to react to the decision. The situation is now more clear as Gerry Dulac of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports that Austin will have surgery on his foot after he has aggravated the injury.
Austin injured his foot in the day before the team’s preseason opener. He was back in practice for about two weeks before he was unable to return to the field for the remainder of his ramp up period.
The fourth-round pick is still going to be a fan favorite next summer, and should get another opportunity to prove himself for this club in 2023. He’ll be focusing on his recovery from the untimely injury he sustained in his rookie season.
