The adventure isn’t over for the Pogues on Outer Banks — it’s only just begun.

After getting stranded on a deserted island by the end of the season 2 finale, John B (Chase Stokes), Sarah (Madelyn Cline), Kiara (Madison Bailey), JJ (Rudy Pankow), Pope (Jonathan Daviss), and Cleo (Carlacia Grant) are back in the first teaser for season 3 of Netflix’s sun-soaked teen drama. They’re stuck on Poguelandia (a tiny island they’ve named), but there’s more action and romance ahead.

Check out the new footage, which debuted during Netflix‘s TUDUM fan event Saturday, below to find out what’s in store for the treasure hunting teens this season:

“John B’s relationship with his dad is a huge theme,” showrunner Josh Pate previously told EW about season 3. “And having his father back around and eventually they will meet back up and John B must reconcile his idealized view of his deceased dad with the reality. It gives us a lot thematic father-son stuff. “

But season 3 won’t be all drama. Getting stuck on Poguelandia means that there’s more romance for the Pogues (especially Kiara and JJ). finally!). Pate stated, “That was one thing that we loved about season 1 and that’s less of an aspect of season 2 that we want to get back to,” “That was the plan. It was how we planned to architect the characters in order to open up romances for season 3. ”

Showrunner Shannon Burke agreed. She said, “In general we were basically shot from a canon of season 2. We want to make more space for teen dramas and romances in season 3. “

Outer Banks season 3 is coming to Netflix in 2023. You can see the teaser below.
