“Liam. This character is so deep. Take a deep dive and see what you find. “

Yes, that’s right. Henry Cavill wrote on Instagram on Saturday that he will officially be “laying down my medallion and my swords” and departing the hit Netflix fantasy series The Witcher after its upcoming third season. Season 4, which the streaming platform has already approved ,, will instead feature Hemsworth playing the legendary monster-hunter Geraltof Rivia.

My journey as Geralt has been filled both with monsters and adventures,” Cavill wrote. “In my place, the wonderful Mr. Liam Hemsworth is taking over the White Wolf’s mantle. As with great literary characters, I pass on the torch with reverence for Geralt’s time and excitement to see Liam’s take. ” He said, “Liam sir, this character is so rich in depth. Take a deep dive and see what you find. ”

Hemsworth made a personal tribute to Cavill in his own statement. “As a Witcher fan, I’m over the moon about the opportunity to play Geralt of Rivia,” he wrote. “Henry Cavill has been an amazing Geralt, and it’s an honour that he’s giving me the reins and allowing my to take up the White Wolf’s blades for the next chapter in his adventure.”

“Henry – I’ve been a long-time fan of yours and was inspired by the way you handled this beloved character.” The Hunger Games actor said. “I may have some big boots to fill, but I’m truly excited to be stepping into the Witcher world. “

During a recent discussion on the Happy, Sad, Confused podcast, Cavill noted that in order to step into the suit again for the film’s end-credits scene, he had to clear his Witcher schedule first.

“I was on Witcher and I got the call saying, ‘Hey, this is happening. When are you able to do it? We just said, “Hey, there’s something I’m gonna do.” Can you please excuse me? ‘”
