LeBron James Wears Nike LeBron 2 at Lakers Media Day
Basketball lovers all over the world have been inundated by news from NBA Media Day. Hoops fans are finally able to feel excited after two slow months in the dog days of summer.
Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James has already had an eventful month. Last week, Nike announced the release date of James’ 20th signature shoe, the Nike LeBron 20. But that was not the shoe ‘King James’ wore in Los Angeles on Monday.
James wore the Nike LeBron 2 instead of his new shoes. Except, it’s actually a retro pair of performance basketball shoes that Nike is bringing back for the first time since they originally released way back in 2004. Here’s everything you need to know about James and his retro shoes.
Nike LeBron 2 Retro ‘Maccabi’
At 2022 NBA Media Day, James wore the Nike LeBron 2 in the ‘Maccabi’ colorway. The retro basketball shoe is scheduled to release on September 28, 2022, for $215. The classic kicks can be purchased on the SNKRS app or at selected retailers.

The ‘Maccabi’ colorway originates from a pair of player-exclusive (PE) shoes worn by James during a preseason game against the Maccabi Elite Tel Aviv team in 2004. The colorway has a gold upper and a white leather overlay. It also features an ankle strap. The model is heavy-duty and features Zoom cushioning in its midsole. James’ throwback logo is also featured on the shoes.
This was not the first time James used NBA Media Day to tease his retro shoes. It might be his best work yet. Follow FanNationKicks.com for more information about your favorite athletes on and off the court.
