Jeff Saturday Updates Matt Ryan’s Role With Colts for Raiders Game
Colts quarterback Matt Ryan will be active this week. Jeff Saturday, interim head coach, announced Ryan will be supporting Sam Ehlinger in the Raiders game in Las Vegas on Sunday.
Indianapolis benched Ryan two weeks ago in favor of Ehlinger, a sixth-round rookie who never previously started an NFL game. Ryan was dropped to the third string in each of the two previous games because he was inactive and Nick Foles was Ehlinger’s backup.
Ryan was the Colts’ starter after an offseason trade with the Falcons. It hasn’t been as successful as either side expected. Ryan is currently leading the league with nine interceptions despite only playing in seven games.
Since taking over for Ryan, Ehlinger has thrown for over 300 passing yards and one interception, but he has yet to throw for a touchdown. He’s also rushed the ball 11 times for 54 yards.
