Evan Turner Tweets Jab at LeBron James After New League Awards Are Announced

The NBA announced changes to its The Most Valuable Player award and several other league honors were also presented. Tuesday

In honor of Bulls legend and Naismith Hall of Famer, the league’s MVP has been renamed The Michael Jordan Trophy. Social media was quick to react to the announcement of the new awards. One reaction was from a former NBA player who took aim at Lakers star LeBron.

Evan Turner, the former No. Evan Turner, the former No. 2 pick in 2010 NBA draft, played for many teams in the NBA, including the Hawks, the Pacers and the Celtics. Turner tried his luck at the four-time MVP award after learning about the new awards and seeing a tweet about James receiving a trophy in 2035.

Turner tweeted, “If we ever have another bubble championship, that trophy should be named after me.”

Many have criticised and placed an asterisk beside the 2020 NBA title for the Lakers. This is because Los Angeles won it in unique circumstances, without fans due the coronavirus pandemic. The Lakers won their 17th NBA title. They lost to the Suns in the first round of playoffs. Last season, they failed to make it to the postseason.

Turner has zero rings, but James still has four rings. Turner spent a lot of time watching James navigate through the playoffs from his home.
