Ember brings Find My functionality to its self-heating travel mug
Ember’s This is a little strange one. Southern California’s firm has two distinct, but not entirely unrelated, arms. There’s the smart-mug side of the company that launched the startup, and there’s the cold chain shipping wing. This uses its temperature control technology for medical supplies.
Although it seemed like the mug business was a stepping stone to better health care (where there is real money), this side of things is still strong. Today, CESEmber, for example, is announcing its Travel Mug 2 . Apple’s Find My feature is now available in the new addition to the line.
Travel mugs, while not the most obvious addition, are easy to forget. You’ll be able to see why you wouldn’t want to leave it behind on the bus if it costs a couple hundred dollars.
The mug will be available in Q2 2023. It has both the required tracking and a chime to play if it is lost within close proximity (another must use Find My properly).
The product features all the same functionality and temperature control as the regular Travel Mug 2, with a display and temperature control built-in. The product will still cost $199, despite the added functionality. It will launch later this year. The standard mug will remain on the market at a reduced cost, but there is no word.
