Cornerback or Safety? Daxton Hill Wants to be Both for the Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati took Hill with the 31st pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
CINCINNATI — The Bengals selected Michigan safety Daxton Hill with the first pick in the 2022 NFL Draft.
The 21-year-old is an athletic, tough, physical player that can play all over the field.
Hill is familiar with the position of nickel cornerback and has moved around in different spots while playing safety at Michigan. He was asked about his versatility in position during a conference call just after he was drafted.
“I would think of myself as both a corner and a safety,” Hill replied when asked if he was a corner player or a safety. I don’t want my position to be limited. Whatever that is, the coaches will put me wherever that may be.”

Hill is built like a cornerback and covers like a cornerback, but he hits and has the range of a safety. He is ready to do what it takes to defend the Bengals. Being a hybrid player for my entire career. I don’t want to be restricted because I know that I can play other positions, whatever they may be, whenever they may be. I’m ready for the journey.”
