With Prime Video, Hulu, Disney , HBO Max, Paramount , Apple TV There are so many great TV shows and movies to watch this week on Netflix and other streaming platforms. It can be overwhelming to know where to find a great new TV series or movie, especially with so many new titles streaming right now, including holiday movies like “Spirited” or “Something From Tiffany’s” as well as the streaming premiere of “Top Gun, Maverick”.
Essentials has compiled a list of the top series and movies to stream this week. This includes new TV shows, big-box-office films, and even some you might have missed in theatres.

The smash hit summer sequel to “Top Gun,” which was a huge theatrical success, is finally coming to a theater near you. Starring Tom Cruise, the latest chapter of the franchise sees Pete “Maverick” Mitchell serving as a Navy test pilot and training a group of graduates for a special mission that may require the ultimate sacrifice. In search of a less-than-family-friendly holiday film to watch this year? “It’s a Wonderful Binge,” the Christmas-centric sequel of 2020’s “The Binge,” is “It’s a Wonderful Binge.” “It’s a Wonderful Binge,” loosely parodied from “The Purge”, follows Hags, Andrew and Sarah as they try to take part in the only day of the year when drugs and alcohol are legal. What day is it? Christmas Eve.

“Darby and the Dead”

“Dolly Parton’s Magic Mountain Christmas”

Dolly Parton will kick off December with a holiday special that she has created. “Dolly Parton’s Magic Mountain Christmas” tells the story of what happens behind the scenes as the award-winning singer attempts to create a new holiday special.
The meta musical features a star-studded roster of musical guests including Willie Nelson and Jimmy Fallon, as well as Jimmie Allen, Zach Williams, Miley Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus, Billy Ray Cyrus and Jimmie Allen. Her two sisters Rachel Parton George (and Cassie Parton Griffith) are also joining the icon onscreen.

Starlord is still sad about Gamora and the holiday season is approaching, so Drax and Mantis set out to Earth on a special holiday mission: Kidnap Kevin Bacon as Peter’s Christmas present.

This hilarious and heartwarming film about a father and daughter stars Omari Hardwick and Marsai Martin.

This twisted, new true-crime series stars Kumail Nanjiani. It tells the bizarre (and real) story of how Chippendales, the world’s largest male-stripping dynasty, came to be. Juliette Lewis, the actress in “Yellowjackets”, also stars.

This long-awaited sequel to the holiday classic is “Christmas Story“Ralphie is all grown up and not quite ready to step into the shoes of his father when he realizes that all the Christmas magic rests on his shoulders.
Peter Billingsley is back as Ralphie, alongside Ian Petrella and Zack Ward, Scott Schwartz and R.D. Robb in “A Christmas Story Christmas.” Not to be confused “A Christmas Story 2“My Summer Story“” Expect plenty of holiday shenanigans, intense mall Santa experiences (or two), in this long overdue sequel.

Jordan Peele’s latest blockbuster stars two siblings who struggle to run their family’s horse farm in Southern California. The pair discovers a UFO hovering just above their land and it presents a dangerous opportunity. “Nope” now streams on Peacock and stars Daniel Kaluuya (from “Get Out”), Steven Yeun (from “The Walking Dead”), and Keke Palmer (ex-Nickelodeon)

“Fleishman is in Trouble”

Toby Fleishman, a newly divorced man, is back in the dating scene and worries about his ex-wife. She dropped off their children in the middle of the night. This limited series is not a simple crime story. It’s a story about love, money and dissatisfaction. It’s also a story about ambition, life, love, life, love, life, life, nostalgia, parenting, nostalgia, and lifelong friendship. It’s basically a story about everything.
FX’s “Fleishman in Trouble” premiered with two episodes on Nov. 17.

“The Sex Lives of College Girls” (Season 2)

Mindy Kaling, Justin Noble and Justin Noble created “The Sex Lives of College Girls”. It follows four college girls who are looking for their identity during their freshman year. The second season of this raunchy comedy begins right after fall break. It seems that the girls still have a lot to learn. Season 2 of “The Sex Lives of College Girls”, starring Pauline Chalamet and Renee Rapp, is now streaming on HBO Max.

“The People We Hate at The Wedding”

Paul and Alice’s wealthy half-sister are getting married in the English countryside. Despite their many, many reservations about attending, the entire family plans to reunite for this special day. This dysfunctional, modern-day comedy about weddings stars Kirsten Bell, Ben Platt and Cynthia AddaiRobinson. It premieres on Amazon Prime Video Nov. 18.

Blue’s Big City Adventure

This musical is a mystery-filled musical that will appeal to both kids and adults who grew-up watching “Blue’s Clues”. “Blue’s Big City Adventure” takes Josh and Blue to New York City where Josh hopes to get his big break at Broadway. This family film, which is now exclusively streaming on Paramount , also features Steve and Joe (former Blue’s Clues hosts Steve Burns & Donovan Patton).

“The Big Brunch”

Dan Levy created and hosts “The Big Brunch”, which brings together 10 contestants across the country to create and perfect brunch. This new cooking show, which is streaming on HBO Max, features Levy as a judge along with Sohla El-Waylly and Will Guidara.

‘Tulsa King’

Dwight “The general” Manfredi, a New York mafia operative, is released from prison after 25 years. He will be moving to Tulsa (Okla.) to establish new territory for his mob clan. The once-great mobster discovers that his skills may be a little rusty upon his arrival. This gritty drama series, created by Taylor Sheridan and “Yellowstone”, stars Sylvester Stallone.

“Falling for Christmas”

A spoiled hotel heiress is injured in a skiing accident and ends up with amnesia. She is taken in by the charming owner and his young daughter of a local inn. Lindsay Lohan stars opposite Chord Overstreet, the “Glee” actor. This is expected to be one the most popular Netflix Christmas movies this year. “Falling For Christmas” is now available on Netflix.

‘The White Lotus’ (Season 2)

Originally slated to be a limited series, Mike White’s Emmy winning HBO show, “The White Lotus”, is back for its second season. A (almost) new cast of characters will spend a week at The White Lotus in Sicily, rejuvenating and relaxing in paradise. Even the best laid plans can sometimes go wrong.
Jennifer Coolidge is back with a stellar cast that includes Aubrey Plaza and Haley Lu Richardson, Will Sharpe and Meghann Fahy. The first episode of Season 2 of “The White Lotus”, Season 2 is available on HBO Max.

“Don’t Worry Darling”

Olivia Wilde’s second film, Jack and Alice, tells the story of a young couple who live in a peaceful community in the 1950s. Alice’s world starts to unravel after her neighbor wanders off into the desert.

‘Selena Gomez – My Mind & Me’

This documentary is a personal look into Selena Gomez’s life after years of being in the spotlight. The film follows Selena Gomez, multi-hyphenate star, over six years and examines her struggles with mental illness and chronic disease.

‘Barbarian’
