Alek Manoah Calls Gerrit Cole ‘Worst Cheater in Baseball History’

There is clearly no love lost between Blue Jays ace Alek Manoah and his Yankees counterpart Gerrit Cole.

During an appearance on Serge Ibaka’s How Hungry Are You? , Manoah didn’t hesitate much in calling out Cole when asked about “the worst cheater in baseball history” by the NBA star.

“He cheat,” Manoah stated, using a baseball grip to discuss the allegations against Cole. “He used a lot of sticky stuff to make his pitches better, and he kinda got called out on it.”

The Yankees star is among the pitchers most heavily connected to the “sticky stuff” scandal that became major news in the MLB in 2021. Baseball made it a point to crack down on illegal substance use by pitchers during that season. Manoah claims that Cole is among the most notorious cheaters in baseball’s history.

He didn’t just take a dig at Cole. Earlier in the interview, he discussed an August Yankees-Blue Jays incident, in which Cole left the dugout and shouted at him after he hit star outfielder Aaron Judge with a pitch.

“He kinda walked off his bench. I didn’t notice that he was gone because I was talking with the guy I hit,” Manoah stated. “I was like, “Hey, you know, I’m not trying hit you right now.” Why is this guy coming onto the field? After the game, I said to him, “If he wants, he can come all of the way nex.” We’ll see what happens.'”

Evidently, Manoah has been hearing from Yankees fans since the clip started going viral on social media. According to his recent tweets, he seems to be enjoying this heat.

Manoah made his first All-Star Game in 2022, posting a 16-7 records with a 2. 24 ERA,

In four starts against the Yankees last season, Manoah went 1-1, surrendering six runs with 27 strikeouts in 23.1 innings.
