An 18-year-old man died and his younger sister was rescued when a hole they were digging in the sand at a New Jersey beach collapsed. Levy Caverley, a Maine resident, was identified by the Toms River police.

Police responded to a call about two teens trapped in the sand shortly after 4 p.m. on Tuesday. They were able to rescue the 17-year-old girl and treat her at the scene. Her brother, however, died. Officials were still trying to recover Caverley’s body as of Tuesday evening.
